Madeira is the largest island of the Portuguese archipelago Região Autónoma da Madeira, situated in the Atlantic Ocean and has been part of Portugal since it was discovered by the early Portuguese explorers in the XV (fifteenth) century.
Among a thousand reasons to make anyone visit this small paradise are the breathtaking volcanic landscapes, delicious food, lovely weather and, of course, Cristiano Ronaldo’s birth place.
Today’s post is slightly different than the previous ones: our words become pictures because we believe that is the way Madeira has been usually acknowledged.
Have you found yourself eager to visit and explore Madeira while watching these pictures? Then, what are you waiting for? Pack your bags and off you go!

When we lived in Holland, we saw many packages for hotel and drive stays in Madeira, Gran Canaria etc. So we mixed them up as the same archipelago of islands. Just looked it up and saw that they are not the same and Canary islands belong to Spain…Good tip and time to consider Madeira!

I am sure you’ll love Madeira. It has nothing to do with the Canary Islands. New Year’s Eve is a great time to visit Madeira and Funchal 😉

We spent a very short time in Madeira but I saw enough to fall totally in love with the island and hope to return for a much longer stay. Your pictures are a great trip down memory lane. Anita

Madeira has an amazing climate, which means that it provides travellers very good weather year-round. Hopefully you may return and bear in mind that Madeira has one of the most beautiful New Year’s Eve fireworks show. 😉
